Valentin Imperial Maya Review: Is the Privé Package Really Worth It?

There’s a specific moment at the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya that I always tell my clients about. It’s that walk back to your suite after dinner, where the pathways are lined with cute twinkle lights and the air smells like the tropics. While many adults-only resorts in Mexico are moving toward a sterile, modern design, the Valentin (or “VIM” as fans call it) preserves the authentic magic of a luxury Mexican hacienda.

As a travel advisor who has visited the Riviera Maya more times than I can count, I’ve seen it all—but this resort holds a special place in my heart. If you are looking for an all-inclusive escape near Cancun that balances luxury with traditional charm, here is everything you need to know before you book. This adults only, all-inclusive resort is a top pick for many of my clients (honeymooners, anniversaries, girl’s trips, and bach parties) and it’s no surprise why.

One of the best selling points of VIM is the variety.

  • The Pool Scene at Valentin Imperial Maya: Here’s where you’ll find the energy and the activity, the foam parties (Sundays!), and the swim-up bars. (Yes bars!!)
  • The Lazy River & Quiet Pools: For those who just want to read a book with poolside service, the Golden pool is where you should be.
  • My Insider Tip: I always tell my clients, if you want a front-row seat at the main pool, you’ve got to be early. The towel game can be no joke here. But if you book the Prive package, you don’t have to worry about this as you’ll have a private cabana for two for your entire trip.

Dining and Restaurants: A Foodie’s Guide to VIM – This can be a hot topic when it comes to all-inclusives and I will say as a foodie, I have found something I enjoy at every restaurant. Now that doesn’t mean that every food item has been a hit, some are better than others. But for the price, this resort does a great job. (Ask me for my super specific recommendations from each spot!) Reservations are not required here, so if you’re coming at a popular time, be prepared to grab a drink after getting your buzzer. When your table is ready, you can head back to the restaurant. No need to show up at a specific time and stick to a schedule – unless of course you want to!

Valentin Imperial Privé Upgrade: Is It Worth the Cost? And the short answer is, it depends. If you enjoy higher shelf liquor, sleeping in in the mornings, and lobster for dinner, then yes it’s a no brainer. But if you’d rather spend time IN the pool and you’ll drink anything, then it could be a wise decision to save your money. This is where I help my clients decide if the upgrade is worth it, we break it all the way down for you.

Planning the perfect Mexico escape is about more than just picking a room—it’s about knowing which building is closest to the beach and which restaurants are closed on Tuesdays. Since I’ve walked these grounds myself, I’d love to help you skip the guesswork.

Ready to find your spot by the pool? Let’s chat about your dates and I’ll make sure you get the best current perks (like resort credits or private transfers) for your stay.

My must pack item for VIM: An insulated cup for the pool!
